(a.) that since the matter was settled by Lord Carnarvon in 1867, a considerable part of the quarters has been taken away.
(b) that the rooms remaining afford merely a reasonable accommodation, though good in themselves, yet accompanied by drawbacks which would desincline most persons to reside here as a matter of choice.
(c) that there is no reason for maintaining a distinction between the Postmaster General and six other officers who occupy quarters desirable in almost every way, but for which they pay no rent for them.
